  preaching work?

  we as jw's have always been told by the gb that the preaching work is paramount, they imply that if your not preaching that your not going to make it to the kingdom.

  so what scriptures do they use for this idea?

  the only one i can think of is the one in matt.

  But wait!

  The WTB&TS makes it clear that the scriptures are a love note from Jehovah to THE ANOINTED. They can't have it both ways.

  The"preaching work" is REQUIRED of the anointed, not of the hoi-polloi. They can tell you it is a "blessing" for mere mortals to "share" in the work, but NONE of us are required to do so.

  So take the weekend OFF! Tell 'em that MAYBE they'll see you next week... or not!

  I was in my mid-20s when this really sunk in, and I can recall the scene like a photograph today, some 40 years later. It was near the beginning of my fade, and the crack in my JW eggshell let a whole lot of light come in. In that moment I changed. I was off the hook and FREE.

  HOT OFF THE PRESS: ZO talk in Japan

  this is literally hot off the press as in from about half an hour ago.. we have a friend from nz (who is wavering and knows our situation) and he is on holiday in japan at the moment.

  today there was a zone overseer talk that he went to in nagoya (southern japan) and it has just finished up.

  straight after the song and still in the stadium he emailed us the info below.

  Israelites didn't have audio or video technology, which of course Jehovah would have provided them had it been his will.

  (Since the only scriptural reference to audio and video were occasions were Jehovah's loyal servants were put to the sword [Klystronians 14:5, Gallium 31:69-71] we take this as an indication of Jehovah's disapproval of such technologies. Let us not run ahead of Jehovah's paper-airplane-like organization though; Betamax may be resurrected in Paradise to be evaluated again for a millennium before being cast into the Lake Of Fire.)

  What they did have were lambskin vellum scrolls and clay tablets impressed with cuneiform writing, which are still used in Judicial Hearings today.

  Wait a minute... imagine for a moment that some Japanese family HAD accepted the message of the WTB&TS ten years ago: look at all the "old light" they would have to unlearn just to keep up with the ever-changing menu on Jehovah's bounteous smorgasbord of fugu sashimi.

  The Japanese are inscrutably efficient. The longer they put off having anything to do with the Watchtower, the fewer false teachings they will need to unlearn a week from now.

  ...and I think a LOT of Japanese are waiting eagerly for the Watchtower to promise them thhat in Paradise they will become WHITE.

  I was an MS when I was 19. (yeah, that's how STUPID I was)

  I don't see it as a "special privilege" for a grown adult man.

  It's like becoming an altar boy at 50.

  What self respecting adult thinks it is a privilege and a blessing to schlep the microphone up and down the aisles during a meeting?

  You mean READING FROM A SCRIPT printed up for you in Brooklyn, don't you?

  I gave the one-hour Sunday talk back in the 70's when they gave you an outline and you had to flesh it out or you'd be finished in 10 minutes. Even that was less of a "talk" than the longer TMS assignments, where the whole enchilada was up to the speaker to write.

  They are using the octal nummbering system because they can't quite grasp hexadecimal.

  But I think DataDog just uncovered a new JW superstition with this -
